Characteristics
The obverse design is based on Adolph A. Weinman’s 1916 “Walking Liberty” half dollar, widely considered one of the most beautiful American coins ever minted. Thanks to modern design technology, the updated obverse is a closer reflection of Weinman’s original vision and includes the addition of his traditional artists mark.
The new reverse design features an eagle as it approaches a landing, carrying an oak branch, as it to add to a nest. The reverse designer was Artistic Infusion Program Designer, Emily Damstra.
